More Lubbock crews on their way to the coast

Posted: Updated:

Ten fresh Lubbock police officers left town today to relieve the original 11 that headed to Houston earlier this week.

Police officers, volunteers and Lubbock firefighters are working to pull victims from flooded-out homes and going on boat patrols through what used to be city streets.

The city is also sending additional personnel to help in the emergency response in Jasper, including two city employees, a police officer and another firefighter as part of the South Plains Incident Management Team.

The city reported a Public Works Team and another fire engine and crew are on stand-by to go as well.

The city indicates it's received no requests to open any shelters to evacuees yet.
