LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock Meals on Wheels has new digs. The non-profit moved in to phase one of its construction project.

The new facility is right next door to its current facility. The new expansion includes a kitchen, freezer, cooler and a volunteer center.

"We started about 13 months ago expanding our current facility so we could feed more people in the Lubbock community," said Lisa Gilliland with Lubbock Meals on Wheels. "Today we are moving in to some of the expansion, and then they will start renovating our old building. So, about four to six months from now the buildings will be connected, and our entire project will be complete."

Meals on Wheels delivers about 700 meals a day. When the project is complete, the number of meals will be doubled.
