TxDOT and safety partners offering child safety seat checkup opportunity

WHAT: Car seat checkup event

WHEN: 10 a.m. — 12 p.m., Saturday, July 15

WHERE: Safety City, 4500 Avenue U, Lubbock, Texas

LUBBOCK – Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13 years old. Many times, deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters, and seat belts.  Due to the rise in children deaths the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and other safety advocates will host a Car seat Checkup Event with certified car seat technicians on hand to teach parents and caregivers how to know if their child is in the right seat for the child’s age and size. Technicians will also check car seats to ensure they’re used and installed the right way.                  

The goal of the car seat checkup event is to teach parents how to correctly install and use car seats.
