LUBBOCK, Texas -

Local law enforcement marking the one-year anniversary of the attack on Dallas PD.

The Lubbock Police department will meet at the Civic Center parking lot Friday morning to turn their lights on in recognition of the officers killed in Dallas.

Assistant Chief of Police Neal Barron said it is a good way to remind ourselves of the sacrifices these officers had to make.

"It is a way for us to show the Dallas Police Department, the San Antonio Police Department, the New York Police Department, and departments across the country," Barron said. "We have lost some of our own here in Lubbock and it's a way for us to remember and honor those that have given their all in defense of their cities"

Governor Abbott asks that all Texans show their appreciation for those who keep us safe.

He will be attending and speaking at the funeral of Miguel Moreno, a San Antonio police officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.
