Local Democrats voice healthcare concerns at town hall

Posted: Updated:

Lubbock County Democrats voiced their concerns about healthcare during a local town hall.

Dan Epstein and Miguel Levario, Democratic candidates for the District 19 congressional seat, said a meeting with Congressman Jodey Arrington is long over-due.

"He really isn't very interested in the plight of the 10,000 children in this district who are probably going to lose their health insurance," Epstein said. "He is much more interested in those in the top three percent who reap major tax benefits from the repeal of Obamacare."

"Our current representative is in support of basically stripping healthcare for thousands within our own district," Levario said. "He basically doesn't care what happens to those of us here in his district."

Congressman Jodey Arrington said, "The American Health Care Act is the first step in repealing government controlled health care and is a free market, patient-centered approach to reducing premiums, increasing access to care, and in spite of all the misinformation and scare tactics - protecting people with preexisting conditions."
