Suspect in custody after police standoff in Anton

HOCKLEY COUNTY, Texas -

A suspect is in custody after a brief standoff in Anton.

Hockley County deputies and U.S. Marshals arrested Randy Juarez, 36, at a home in the 600 block of Main.

Juarez was wanted on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Ray Scifres said Juarez initially refused to come outside, but then surrendered peacefully.

The nearby Anton ISD campus was placed on lockdown as a precaution until the situation was resolved.
