Charlie Thompson has spent most of his life in the rodeo arena, and soon he will be recognized statewide for his hard work. Thompson will be inducted in the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame.

He has produced several large and small rodeos over his career, and has trained contestants as well as livestock. Thompson said the award has great meaning, because he's being recognized by his fellow peers.

"I am very humbled," he said. "I don't feel like I have made the kind of impact this award and honor symbolizes."

As for the future of the rodeo business, Thompson hopes it is still here in 20 years.  The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame will be in April at the Forth Worth Stockyards.
