Marcos Ortiz was born and raised in Fort Worth. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2016 with his Bachelors Degree in broadcast communication and a certification in emerging media. During his time at UTA he was a member of "UTA News" as well as "UTA News en Español", a Spanish-language newscast. Both are produced on a weekly bases by broadcast students. As a member of both newscasts he got a chance to report stories, anchor, and take on the role as a producer, as well as manage behind-the-scenes tasks inside the control room. He was also a part of "UTA Radio", an online radio station on-campus, in which he co-hosted his own show focusing on local, regional, state, and national news, sports and entertainment. During his time at UTA he also got a chance to be a part of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. He was the UTA chapter treasurer. He is currently a member of the DFW Hispanic Communicators and the Latino Multimedia Communicators Association.
He was chosen with a group of classmates from UTA and UNT to intern and be a part of a partnership with Univision Dallas called Proyecto U. This partnership allowed him and his colleagues an opportunity to work with Univsion's news and production teams to produce news stories that would be aired on weekend newscasts. He got an opportunity to produce news stories and work behind the scenes in the 5th largest market in the nation.
Marcos also had the pleasure to be a part of the 2015 Goodyear Cottonbowl Classic media team, which showcased the match-up of Alabama and Michigan State. Alabama won the game 38-0. He got a chance to work with all the outside media outlets and work behind the scenes.
In the summer of 2016 he was accepted to be a participant of the Media Sales Institute program hosted by the National Association of Broadcast Education Fund at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. At this two-week program he learned from media sales professionals, seeing the role sales play in the industry.
Marcos is a very traditional type of guy. He loves spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys meeting new people, making new friends, and traveling the world. As a faithful North Texan He is a big fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. He enjoys being out in the community, and getting involved. He is always open to learning new things.
