Winter Raider Welcome Week began the first day of spring semester, Jan. 19 and will run through Saturday Jan. 23.
There were a wide variety of events for all students to enjoy. Many organizations held their events welcoming students through fun activities in the Student Union Building and around campus. The activities offered students both new and old a chance to make new connections and friends.
The Tech Activities Board held numerous events such as Bag to School, where students to make survival kits filled with school supplies and snacks, and sponsored Mark Tollman, a mind reader and TEDx speaker.
Transfer Connection had a t-shirt swap where transfer students could bring a t-shirt from their former school for a Tech Power shirt. The traded in shirts are donated to various charities.
The Aquatic Center is holding a Polar Bear Swim on the 23rd for members of the Tech community. The pool will be chilled to 40 degrees with contests such as the Longest Swim and the Fastest 50 in the chilly water. The hot tub will be turned on for individuals that would rather watch the Polar Bear Swim than participate.
Each Welcome Week, the committee selects a service project. This years Winter Welcome service project is a blood drive with the United Blood Center.
