Wyoming news outlets reported Tech president Duane Nellis commented about his current job, while fielding questions as a finalist for president of the University of Wyoming.
Nellis is one of three candidates for that job. He spoke at public meetings with faculty, students, and community members on the UW campus in Laramie.
According to the Laramie Boomerang, Nellis said he'd only worked at land grant universities before coming to Tech which operates under a different hierarchy.
The University of Wyoming is a land grant university.
The Tech system is headed up by a chancellor and has separate presidents for each of the four schools under the tech umbrella.
The newspaper reports Nellis said, "I thought it'd be something I'd be able to adjust to and overcome, but the fit and the context is more challenging than I thought."
