Meals on Wheels is planning a building expansion aided by a $2.2 million grant from the J.T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation. The agency will double its current space giving it the ability to serve even more people. MOW provides meals each weekday for more than 700 elderly and home bound clients.
"We're very excited," Executive Director for MOW Lisa Gilliland said. "It will be a great legacy for the Talkington foundation because Margaret was one of our volunteers for many years. So we're so proud and so pleased to be able to expand our facility thanks to their generosity."
The organization will finalize plans by the fall. It will continue operations in the current building during construction which is expected to take up to 12 months.
