SOME RAIN: Most of us missed out on rain last night, but in typical summertime pattern where it rained it poured. It was just a trace at the airport. Around Lubbock County it was mainly northwestern parts of the county that got some rain. Here are top totals on the Texas Tech Mesonet:
Dora, NM 0.88”
Near Texas Tech 0.30”
Reese Center 0.05”
There have been slow-moving storms this morning edging from north of Clovis into the western Panhandle. Some of this heavy rain has fallen in Parmer County, most of it has been north of our area. Storms will continue over the Panhandle this morning, a few showers possible across the northern part of our area.
TODAY: It’ll be warm and humid, high near 91 in Lubbock, wind NE-SE 5-12mph. It won’t be quite as warm north of the city.
Some storms will likely develop this afternoon. But the chance for you to get rain isn’t great, since these showers and storms will be small. Like we’ve seen the past few days…some will get heavy rain, others will get nothing. A few more storms will be possible late tonight into early tomorrow.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK: The chance for rain and storms is a little better tomorrow. Again some quick, heavy rain of more than 1/2” will be possible…but there’s also a better chance you get no rain. With more clouds the high will be in the low 90s tomorrow and Sunday. We’ll keep a slight chance for storms through Monday.
NEXT WEEK: High pressure aloft builds closer to us, so it’ll get hotter with a lower chance for rain.
Have a great weekend. Rudy will have a full update to the forecast here later today.
