Lubbock man killed in train wreck near Shallowater

DPS released the name of the pickup truck driver killed in a collision with a train southeast of Shallowater. Troopers report 76-year old James Neely of Lubbock left a friend's house Sunday and tried cross the tracks in front of train near County Road 1600 and Highway 84. The impact of the crash ejected him from the pickup. Neely died at the scene.
     
A week ago Sunday, there was another collision involving a train at 34th Street and Alcove Avenue. The driver, Roger Corpus, refused medical assistance at the scene. He collapsed later and was hospitalized for internal injuries. Corpus is listed in satisfactory condition.
