SOME RAIN IN THE AREA: We didn't think there would be showers yesterday morning, but sure enough a few small ones popped up east of Lubbock. We did think some isolated storms would be possible near the state line. This is where we saw the best rain total on the Texas Tech Mesonet, 0.53" at Hobbs. Here are other totals:
No rain in Lubbock.
WARM WEEKEND: A big upper-level high pressure dome will be across West Texas through the weekend, which means it'll be sunny and hot. We can't rule out an isolated storm west, but mainly just expect sunny and hot each day. High today near 96, wind S-SE 10-15mph. It'll be a little hotter off of the Caprock.
The average high this time of year is 93. It should get closer to the mark middle of next week. There are some signs the ridge will break down some...there might even be a front that gets close to here late next week. It's too early to know if that'll mean rain.
Have a great weekend. Rudy will have a full forecast update here later today, Christopher will have your forecast through the weekend.
