This summer's downpours is still taking a toll on Lubbock. Maintenance crews are having trouble getting to alleyways that need to be repaired.
"The mud it really made it pretty hard for us to even maintain these alleys," Tim Merritt Street Maintenance Supervisor said. "If we even try to get in there when it is muddy we're just going to track it up and there's going to be a lot in the asphalt streets."
With 600 miles of unpaved alleys to cover around Lubbock and roughly 400 work requests in the system, Merritt said crews are working extra hours to catch up with the work.
