LUBBOCK, Texas – Former Texas Tech golfer Stephanie Bertelsen will return to the links Wednesday when she begins play in the European Amateur Championship being held at Murhof Golf Club in Austria.
Bertelsen, who wrapped her career as a Lady Raider this past spring, is one of 144 players slated to compete in the 72-hole tournament. She is expected to tee off around 5:30 a.m. CT.
A native of Vejle, Denmark, Bertelsen finished her senior season with a 74.2 stroke average that was third on the team just behind the 74.0 marks set by both Gabby Barker and Kimmy Hill. Bertelsen recorded a pair of top-10 finishes, including a career-best fifth place performance at the Big 12 Championships.
Bertelsen was also instrumental in the Lady Raiders advancing to the NCAA Championships for the second time in program history. Texas Tech’s historic run ended in the quarterfinal round of match play, placing the Lady Raiders in a tie for fifth place nationally.
Bertelsen, who transferred to Texas Tech from nearby Western Texas College prior to her junior season, ended her two-year career with a 74.7 stroke average that ranks third all-time in program history.
