Long-time Tech professor receives recognition

An icon at Texas Tech is honored by the Lubbock Advertising Federation as its 56th recipient of the American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award.

Dr. Bill Dean has been a prominent face for nearly 50 years. The Lubbock native holds three degrees from Tech and joined the school's faculty in 1967 as a Director of Student Publications and Assistant Professor of Journalism.

"I mean part of it speaks to his longevity and part of speaks to his impact and I just don't know of anyone who has had more impact across more generations than anyone at Texas Tech maybe ever," Mike Gustafon a long-time friend of Dr. Dean said.

Dean has also spent the past 37 years as Executive Vice President and CEO of the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
