THIS MORNING: There are a few showers and thunderstorms across the northern TX Panhandle, OK Panhandle and southwestern Kansas. For now the rain should all stay up there to the north. It’s in the upper 60s to low 70s across our area…decent humidity with the dew point in the mid 60s.
TODAY: The best area for rain and storms will be to our north and norhtwest. But a front up there will push a little farther south into our area, which will help get some storms going. Across our area a few storms are possible by mid-afternoon, better chance this evening. A few storms might produce damaging wind. With a lot of storms expected across Eastern New Mexico a few of those might move into our area late tonight.
High today near 95, wind S-SE 10-15mph. Here is the area forecast:
TOMORROW: Once again we have a chance for some storms late in the afternoon until late at night, high in the lower 90s. Again more widespread rain will run from NE New Mexico into the TX Panhandle.
While not everyone will get rain this week...some heavy downpours will be possible. Because these storms won't move too quickly some 1/2" to 1" rain totals are possible. But many of us may wind up with a goose egg in the rain total column. 1" to 2" will be common along and north of I-40 from Central New Mexico to the Texas Panhandle. A flash flood watch is posted in NE New Mexico from Las Vegas to Raton.
LATE WEEK: High pressure aloft will build back this way. It never really moves too far away, which is why we’ll be in the 90s next few days. But it should get a few degrees warmer by Thursday with the high in the mid 90s through the weekend, lots of sun.
Have a great day. Rudy will have a full update to the forecast here later today.
