Temperatures will again climb into the mid to upper 90s today. Lubbock will reach around 96° under mostly sunny skies. Just like yesterday, we could see a few showers and storms form in our western and northwestern counties. The chance of rain is only about 20%, so most of us will stay dry. Tonight will remain mostly clear and mild, with lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.

This weekend will be hot and dry: 97° Saturday and 98° Sunday. We're still watching for the possibility of a cold front reaching us Monday. It still looks like it will become stalled to our north, keeping the best chances for rain up in the Panhandle. Across the South Plains, only a slim chance of rain - 10-20% - and most of that will be in our northern counties. Beyond that, the ridge of high pressure is forecast to strengthen again, meaning a likely continuation of sunshine and hot temperatures.

I'll have the hour-by-hour forecast all morning long on Good Day Lubbock, and Rudy will have a full update later today.
