LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2015-16 Texas Tech men's golf season will begin Sept. 4 in The Carmel Cup at coveted Pebble Beach in the first of 11 regular season events, as announced by Texas Tech Athletics on Thursday.
Coming off the program's 11th national championship appearance, the Red Raiders are slated with four tournaments between September and October before wrapping up the fall in Orlando at the Isleworth Country Club.
Tech opens the spring across the Pacific Ocean in the Amer Ari Invitational on Feb. 4 in Hawaii. The Red Raiders will then return to the States for a three-day event, the Desert Classic, starting on Feb. 19 in Palm Springs, CA.
"We really like how this year's schedule presents itself," said head coach Greg Sands, who enters his 16th season at the helm. "You can never complain opening the season at Pebble Beach. We have played some of our best golf in Hawaii and Southern Highlands in Las Vegas. To be honest, we feel comfortable on several of the courses throughout the season and really hope to build momentum heading back to Whispering Pines and the Big 12 Championship in late April."
The season begins in Pebble Beach followed by the Olympia Fields Collegiate in Chicago (Sept. 18), The Tucker hosted by the University of New Mexico (Sept. 25) and the Isleworth Collegiate (Oct. 18).
As the spring begins, the Red Raiders travel to Hawaii before returning to Palm Springs then onto the Southern Highlands Masters in Las Vegas (March 7) before a quick turnaround for the Mission Inn Spectacular in Florida (March 12).
Tech will take some time at the end of March to gear up for the Aggie Invitational (April 2) and the El Marcero Classic in Sacramento (April 15) as one final tune-up prior to the Big 12 Championship, which returns to the award-winning Whispering Pines Golf Club (April 29) in Trinity, Texas.
