LPD Chief confirms Castro's original arrest report was deleted

An open records request shined more light on the LPD paper trail on the arrest of person of interest in the Mark Ysasaga murder case on an unrelated charge.
Christian Castro was arrested June 5, in connection with a reported home invasion robbery.
The aggravated robbery and kidnapping charges were dropped a short time later. According to police, after further investigation it was revealed the incident was a dispute among people who knew each other.
Questions were then raised about the timing and circumstances in relation to an anonymous Crime Line tip that led to the discovery of Ysasaga's body.
Documents released to FOX 34 include a June 22 request from the City Manager to Assistant Chief James Shavers for Castro's arrest report under its case number.
Shavers responded that the case number assigned to Castro's served warrant report, was canceled by a sergeant "due to the charges being dropped per the District Attorney's Office." He added, the information regarding Castro's arrest was put in the Ysasaga supplement report case number.
Acting Chief Jerry Brewer confirmed that original arrest record was deleted and an internal review is underway. But he said the arrest of Christian Castro has been fully documented.
Those documents have not been made public at this time.
