The streets were packed throughout Mackenzie Park on the Fourth of July for Lubbock's annual Fourth on Broadway celebration.
Organizers said the park venue is a much better place for the event because of the space and the family friendly atmosphere.
"It was fun!"
"It's been real nice, a lot of room, open space," an event-goer said.
Fourth on Broadway has been on Broadway for the last several years. This year, the event has a new home at Mackenzie Park.
"The change will take some getting used to, but I like the fact that they have so much wide open space," another event-goer said.
Not everyone is on board with the location change.
"I just like the feel of Broadway, I mean you can't fix something that's not broken," a mother said.
"To me it felt better on Broadway because there's more room on both sides and here everybody was just cramped up on one side and I just like it better over there," an event-goer said.
"I kind of preferred it to be on Fourth and Broadway instead of over here."
The worst part,
"Parking was terrible," a mother said.
"We had to park like way over there," an event goer said.
"Parking needs to be a little bit more organized a bit more closer," an attendee said.
Another request for next year's event would be to add more restrooms.
"The kids looking for a restroom, okay where do we go, good question!"
Organizers said the reason for the change of venue has a lot to do with the heat.
"I kind of like this, there's more trees out here, you got the park, in years past you got the street and the heat, you know how it is with the heat, it just kicks back off the street, this is much better," one father said.
"I think it'll take some getting used to but I think in the long run this will be a better event overall," a supporter said.
