Mavs acquire veteran Center Zaza Pachulia

From Mark Stein of ESPN.com

The Dallas Mavericks have acquired veteran center Zaza Pachulia from theMilwaukee Bucks.

The Mavericks agreed to take Pachulia into salary-cap space and send a future second-round draft pick to the Bucks in the wake of DeAndre Jordan's decision to walk away from the verbal commitment he gave Dallas last week.

The Mavericks, sources said, will gladly take Pachulia's $5.25 million expiring contract into their salary-cap space -- without impacting future flexibility next summer -- and make the native of Georgia their frontcourt fallback after being spurned by Jordan on the heels of Tyson Chandler's defection to Phoenix.

Sources say the Bucks had been trying to move Pachulia since beating out the Knicks and other teams for highly coveted free agent Greg Monroe.

The Mavericks will have slightly less than $12 million in salary-cap space after acquiring Pachulia, having also awarded a four-year, $70 million deal Thursday to free-agent guard Wesley Matthews to lure him away from the Portland Trail Blazers.
