THIS MORNING: A complex of showers and thunderstorms has been moving out of the Panhandle. The individual showers and storms are moving east, but the coverage has been expanding south. Some of these downpours are pretty heavy, could create some localized flooding. Several locations north of Lubbock have picked up more than an inch of rain. Here is the radar live stream:Broadcast live streaming video on Ustream
The storms will move out of the area by mid-morning, with clouds sticking around.
LATER TODAY: We expect some more storms to go up late this afternoon across Eastern New Mexico or parts of the western South Plains. It probably won’t be all of our area getting rain, but it’s a decent chance for a few storms late today into this evening. More storms could roll through here late tonight.
High today near 87, mostly cloudy, wind S-SE 12-22mph.
TOMORROW: It’ll be a similar setup…mostly cloudy, high in the mid 80s. We could again see some storms late tomorrow into tomorrow night.
WARMER DAYS AHEAD: High pressure aloft will move this way from the southeastern US. It’ll warm to near 90 Saturday, a few degrees warmer Sunday. Next week will climb back to the mid 90s with lots of sun. We’d probably be up near 100 next several days if it was as dry as the last few summers have been, but the good soil moisture should keep the temp down a few degrees.
Have a great day. Rudy will update your full forecast here later today.
