Temperatures again reached the low 90s today under partly cloudy skies. Tonight will remain partly cloudy and mild. We'll only dropping to around 72° in Lubbock.
We'll again reach the low 90s Monday. We also have a chance of rain in the afternoon and evening across the area. Those chances will really ramp up overnight into Tuesday as a cold front pushes through the area. Heavy rain is likely during the Tuesday morning commute, and a 70% chance continues through the day. Here's a look at what how things could play out, according to our computer model:
Wednesday also has a 50% chance of rain, and some showers and storms could even linger into Thursday. Two of our computer models are suggesting widespread 1-2" are possible through midday Wednesday. Some models are suggesting the cold front could become stationary over our area. If that happens, we could see heavy rain dumped on the same area for a long time, so higher totals in isolated locations are certainly a possibility.
Tuesday will be much cooler behind the cold front, with a high of only 78° or so in Lubbock. Temperatures will then remain below average through the week. We'll gradually warm back to the 90s by next weekend.
Have a great Sunday night, and GO USA!!!
