Good morning! Temperatures are starting the day in the upper 60s and low 70s. We're seeing a few showers and storms out there this morning, mostly to the northwest of Lubbock. We do have a 20% chance of rain across the South Plains through this afternoon and overnight. We could see some pockets of heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds with any storms today. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s this afternoon.
The chance for rain does continue overnight, but most of it should clear away by early saturday, with only a 10% chance through the day. That means most of us should remain dry on the Fourth of July. Partly cloudy skies will stick around, with temps again in the low 90s.
Sunday will remain dry too, but our next chance of rain arrives to start the week. Monday and Tuesday both have a 40% chance of rain. A cold front will move through, dropping temps to the low 80s Tuesday, but we'll be right back to the 90s by the end of the week.
Enjoy this holiday Friday and Independence Day tomorrow! Rudy will have an update here later tonight.
