Lubbock County to issue same-sex marriage licenses starting July 6

In a release, Lubbock County Clerk Kelly Pinion has announced that the county will be issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples starting on Monday, July 6.

This comes after a week of not issuing licenses due to a required software upgrade that would allow for marriage certificates to be printed out with non-gender specific spaces on them. Pinion has previously said they did not want to issue the licenses because one line always read "Mister."
