It was just a pretty typical first day of July with near average temperatures both this morning and afternoon. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.
Clouds will increase tonight leading to partly cloudy conditions throughout the day tomorrow. We will have a slight chance for a few showers and thunderstorms, but the better chance will be late tomorrow into early Friday. Similar to what we have seen over the past couple of weeks we will be watching storms that form in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico move down into the Panhandle and then eventually through the South Plains. This will be possible again late Friday into Saturday. While there could be a few showers across the region on the Fourth of July, the best chance will be to the north of Lubbock and most of us should stay dry.
We will have similar temperatures tomorrow to what we had today, but then temperatures will not be as warm to end out the week with highs in the upper 80s on both Friday and Saturday. For the Fourth of July, morning lows will be in the upper 60s, and then when the parade starts at around 9am, temperatures will be in the low 70s. We will warm into the upper 80s and lower 90s in the afternoon, with upper 70s and lower 80s around sunset. High pressure will build in over the weekend which will help clear us out and warm our temperatures back to around average for the first half of next week.
I hope you had a great day! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Matt will have a complete updated forecast for you tomorrow morning.
