THIS MORNING: We had a few storms moving south over the Rolling Plains. These storms moved farther southwest and are now pushing south of I-20 down toward SW Texas.
TOP RAIN TOTALS: Here are greatest totals in our area on the Texas Tech Mesonet. This includes both the storms yesterday and this morning.
It was just 0.09” of rain yesterday at the Lubbock airport.
TODAY: Mostly sunny, slightly above the average high of 93. We can’t rule out a stray storm, but the rain chance is lower next few days. Wind today S 5-15mph. Here is the area forecast:
NEXT FEW DAYS: Tomorrow will be about the same, though the S-SW wind will be stronger at 10-18mph.
The upper-level ridge that’s been parked over the western United States will move farther northwest by Thursday-Friday. This is when we might get a few storms late Thursday or Friday. Storms can fire up in New Mexico and Colorado then move down this way, thanks to more of a northwesterly flow aloft. Latest guidance has now moved the chance for storms Thursday and Friday and is lower Saturday, good news for Fourth of July festivities.
It’ll turn a little warmer early next week.
Have a great day, Rudy will have a full update here later today.
