THIS MORNING: There are a few showers and thunderstorms at the eastern edge of our area, close to U.S. 83. These are moving south. Some brief heavy rain is possible, though it doesn’t last long. The rain should stay east, we aren’t expecting anything around Lubbock this morning.
TODAY: High near 92 in Lubbock, mostly sunny to partly cloudy, wind S-SE 5-15mph. Temperature range of 90-96 area-wide:
There is a slight chance for storms this afternoon into tonight. It won’t rain everywhere. This is your summertime setup where at least a few showers or storms develop, bringing heavy rain and gusty wind. Many of us will miss out.
NEXT FEW DAYS: The big ridge of high pressure will stay parked somewhere over the western United States with hot weather. It hit 110 yesterday at Boise, Idaho. We should be in the low 90s again tomorrow and Wednesday. An isolated storm is possible, but the rain chance is lower than today.
LATE WEEK: It should turn slightly cooler as we get closer to the Fourth of July weekend. We see a slight chance for storms Friday and on the Fourth. It looks a little bit warmer early next week. We don't see a dramatic change from the pattern of ridging west, troughing east much...so it'll stay hot and dry over the western United States and cool east.
Have a great day. Rudy will update this forecast later today.
